Payroll could become an even more pivotal area for businesses, with the latest research finding that the coronavirus pandemic has made payroll a ‘key concern’ for employers.

The research polled companies from 11 European countries and found that 41 per cent of firms see payroll as ‘very important’ in the future, with experts highlighting the importance of reliable payroll systems.

The news comes as the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professional (CIPP) is hosting and celebrating the 22nd anniversary of National Payroll Week this week, from 7-11 September.

Over the week, the national awareness campaign has two key goals; the first is to raise the profile and awareness of payroll in the UK, by recognising the efforts of professionals in the payroll industry. The second is to educate business professionals about the payroll system and related benefits.

This year has brought particular challenges to businesses, with the impact of the coronavirus pandemic being felt. That’s why, this year, more than ever, National Payroll Week aims to celebrate the payroll profession, which has been identified as essential to the provision of financial services and ensuring that the UK gets paid!
